(Spring/Summer issue No. 14)

Greetings to all our fans in the UK and now in the USA.

Special features abound in this fabulous new Edition of OLD THEATRES magazine. We head for Blackpool, rated as the premier resort for entertainment, and have pleasure in    producing a brilliant colour supplement which you will want to keep.

We see halls in use and those waiting for their next audiences, all beautifully photographed, while our Cover shows dancers taking to the floor at Frank Matcham’s stunning Ballroom within Blackpool Tower. We were also privileged to tour the famous London Palladium, Britain’s Ace Theatre of Variety, and in another special report we show scenes back stage and in the auditorium, while Chris Woodward tells us the history of the building which was on the site of Henglers Circus. The restoration of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne Theatre Royal is also featured, together with before and after pictures of the transformation of Crewe Lyceum Theatre from a Sleeping Beauty to its original grandeur. Also of great importance we visit Salford Victoria Theatre (near Manchester) for an in depth  report on another Sleeping Beauty which deserves a future. And a sentimental journey is made   to Eastbourne Royal Hippodrome where a determined band of theatre supporters and hoteliers are bringing it back to life. We look back at Colwyn Bay in North Wales when entertainment on the pier was a popular attraction. But what do we see today? And we follow the history of a  working class theatre which was popular with local miners.

All our regular features continue, so there is much to hold your attention and maybe, as subscribers, to get in touch with us. You will be made very welcome.
